About this place
Tara Tarini Pitha is a sacred Shakti Pitha located on the Kumari Hills on the banks of the Rushikulya River, near Purushottampur, ~35 km from Berhampur. At 708 ft above the river, the twin goddesses Tara and Tarini are worshipped as manifestations of Adi Shakti. It is one of the four major Shakti Peethas of Odisha. A ropeway (₹60/person) connects hilltop to base. The site has 999 steps leading to the shrine.
